SUGAR CITY, Idaho (AP) – Wildlife officials in Idaho feed a group of elk camped near US Highway 20 in hopes of keeping them out of harm's way.
The post office reports that officials from the sport fishing department announced that 50 elks were positioned east of the highway near Sugar City.
Up to now, Fish and Game officials have reported at least one incident between two elk and a trailer.
Fish and Game's Regional Communications Officer, James Brower, said the agency had begun baiting animals on Monday.
Brower says the flock initially counted more than 100 people when he entered the area on Feb. 4, but he has since split into several smaller groups.
Brower says that these elk have descended from the canyon of the Teton River.
