He had thrown his chains near a small campfire in the desert and unlocked his chains with a key stolen from a frozen tower. Now all that was left to do was get rid of the stupid hat he wanted to wear and become a little more spirited for good measure. The earthquake provided the ritual site he needed to complete his transformation. He went to the Wailing Wood.
