According to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory asteroid database browser, a large asteroid nearly twice the size of the Empire State Building in New York will hover over Earth on Thursday.
Known as the 2010 RJ53, the asteroid is around 774 meters in diameter and will pass past the planet today.
The asteroid will pass approximately 366,000 kilometers from the planet, which means it will be closer to Earth than the Moon.

However, the 2010 RJ53 is highly unlikely to impact Earth.
NASA has already declared the planet free from any risk of asteroid impact for the next century.
Researchers and astronomers around the world, including NASA, monitor nearby asteroids and calculate their trajectory.
It’s to see if they pose a threat.
