Most hotels around the world require a guest to present a credit card upon check-in, just to ensure any damages or other charges are covered. Obviously, a man who works in the area had not heard the news when he checked in at the Fairfield Inn in Atmore on Saturday September 18th.
The man, whose name he provided to the hotel attendant (but has not yet been released by police), lost his temper around 4 p.m. when told he should present a credit or debit card before receiving a room key. menu.
“The man walked over to the counter and told the attendant his company had reserved a room for him,” Police Chief Chuck Brooks said. “The attendant told him a credit card was needed, just to put it on file, and he refused.”
The man, who reportedly wore a full face covering, continued the debate belligerently, prompting the attendant to cancel the reservation and ask him to leave.
Police reports show the man “got angry and started to swear.” He reached the waistband of his pants as if for a weapon, causing the attendant to flee nearby. The attendant could have heard “breaking noises” coming from the lobby.
The angry former hotel guest allegedly threw several computer objects on the ground in the hotel’s business district, damaging them, before leaving.
Brooks said the man is at risk of arrest on a felony second-degree felony trespass charge when arrested because the total damage to computers is between $ 500 and $ 2,500.
