WARREN ä A man from Niles was arraigned in Trumbull County Common Plea Court on Tuesday on multiple felony charges relating to the alleged rape of a relative.

Joshua Barnes, 29, of North Bentley Avenue, through his attorney John Juhasz, pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape carrying life imprisonment, as well as two counts of sexual behavior illegal with a minor, two counts of supplying alcohol to a minor. person and interference with custody.

Judge Andrew D. Logan, after a brief debate from Juhasz, set Barnes’ bond at $ 500,000 and ordered that there be no contact with the alleged victim.

Juhasz requested a lower bond with the electronic house arrest requested by prosecutors, but the judge ruled on the larger cash bond. Barnes, meanwhile, remains in Trumbull County Jail pending the posting of that bond.

Prosecutors said a girl was the victim, aged 10 to 13, and the accused is on a tape admitting the offenses.

Barnes was arrested after a warrant was served on August 26. According to a police report, a man reported the crime on August 23 to the police station. Police Captain John Marshall said “It is alleged that Barnes engaged in sexual behavior with a minor. “

Barnes is due to return to Logan court on October 26 for a 9 a.m. preliminary hearing.
