A Buffalo restaurant employee diagnosed with hepatitis A

BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) – Erie County officials have announced a new case of hepatitis A at an employee of a Buffalo restaurant.

The worker was working at Destiny's, located at 2382 Fillmore Avenue, according to Mark Poloncarz, Erie County Executive, and Gale Burstein, County Health Commissioner.

Officials gave details of the case at a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

There have been 6 cases of Hepatitis A in Erie County in 2019. Erie County officials said they were not related.

This is the first time a case of hepatitis A has occurred this year with a food processor.

According to an inspection report prepared by the catering department on Monday, March 11, 2019, Destiny's would have recorded 10 infractions.

Poloncarz said the Erie County Health Department will offer a hepatitis A vaccination clinic to those who ate at Destiny's restaurant in Fillmore between February 27 and March 11. .

The clinic will be located at Elim Christian Fellowship, 70 Chalmers Avenue, Buffalo on 3/13 from 3pm to 8pm. And the 14:14 from 15h to 20h.
