The Pasco County Health Department has identified a positive case of hepatitis A in a food services worker at the ICON Gentlemen's Club in Hudson.

The ministry recommends anyone who ate or drank at the gentlemen's club between April 24 and May 1 to be vaccinated against hepatitis A.

Customers who ate or drank something at the facility from April 15 to April 23 were also exposed to the virus.

DOH-Pasco states that the vaccine against hepatitis A or immunoglobulin (IG) may offer protection against the disease if they are administered within two weeks of exposure.

The news comes in the wake of several other cases of hepatitis A in restaurants in the Tampa Bay area.

Unlike other forms of hepatitis, hepatitis A does not cause prolonged liver damage and does not become chronic, according to the Mayo Clinic.

To treat the symptoms of hepatitis A, doctors usually recommend rest, proper nutrition and fluids, CDC said. Some people may need several months to fully recover from hepatitis A.

ICON has issued the following statement:

Yesterday afternoon, ICON Gentlemen's Club was informed that a former ICON employee was being treated for the treatment of hepatitis A. According to the Department of Health, there is nothing about it. 39 indicates that the former employee allegedly contracted the virus at ICON. We were told that this person was no longer working at ICON Gentlemen's Club.

After a thorough inspection of the Pasco County Health Department and the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulatory Health Inspectorate, no trace of hepatitis A has been found in the building.

Our goal right now is education and vaccination.

This afternoon, June 4-6, we will be hosting an event to offer free hepatitis A vaccines to our staff, artists, clients and neighbors. We invite everyone in the area, mainly those from the bar and restaurant sector to attend.

ICON will continue to work in partnership with the Health Department to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
