Dietitians who spoke TODAY do not recommend it. “If you want to go on this diet, don’t. Lunch

  • 1 cup of cottage cheese
  • 1 hard-boiled egg
  • 5 salted crackers

Having dinner

  • 2 hot dogs (no bread)
  • 1 cup of broccoli
  • 1/2 cup carrots
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream

DAY 3 (1100 calories)

Breakfast

  • 5 salted crackers
  • 1 slice of cheddar cheese
  • 1 small apple

Lunch

  • 1 hard-boiled egg (or cooked to your liking)
  • 1 slice of toast (preferably whole wheat)

Having dinner

  • 1 cup of tuna
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 cup of vanilla ice cream

For the next four days, you can eat whatever you like, ideally keeping less than 1,500 calories per day. You repeat the three-day and four-day cycle until you reach your target weight.

While this program may sound appealing, it might have some drawbacks. “It discourages good eating habits throughout life from dieting for three days and eating whatever you want for four days,” Taub-Dix said.
