A woman from Northern Ireland claims that people accuse her of blackface or trying to "change her race" because of her "extreme" tan, which she partially succeeds in injections.
"People say I wanted to be a black woman and wanted to change race just because I tanned, but I do not care," said 22-year-old student Hannah Tittensor of Belfast. . "These people do not really know me."
Tittensor, who said she "could not live without tanning," revealed in a recent episode of Barcroft Media's "Hooked on the Look" series that she loves the darker complexion because she "looks great prettier". She gets her complexion by combining tanning beds and online injections of a chemical called Melanotan, as opposed to using tanning sprays, which become too "uneven" for her taste.

Tittensor admitted that her habit could also be an "obsession" because she claimed that she felt better when she was getting tanned. She also frequently posts photos of herself on Instagram, where she says critics "attack her" for her complexion.
"Obviously, some people say nice things," she said. "[But] if you type 'blackface' on Instagram or even on Google, my name is displayed. Just to tan. An extreme tan, I know it.
Tittensor admitted that skin cancer still affected her.
"Cancer is rampant in my family and I am probably more likely to develop skin cancer. I think it's just a matter of having your moles checked, she told Barcroft Media.
Her boyfriend Ben, who shares his preference for tanning, says that he is not worried about any harmful side effects, since no one in his family has cancer.

Tittensor's sister, Rachel, is however very worried, but said that Tittensor "does not listen" to those who try to dissuade her.
"She's really black but she does not think so," Rachel said. "All her image is related to insecurity, without all that she is absolutely beautiful."
According to Bancroft, Tittensor became a drug addict for the first time after returning from vacation to Turkey in 2015 with an "amazing tan". His brother then introduced him to Ben and his injections. And despite the objections of anyone, she says that her tan makes her happy.
