JOHANNESBURG – Duduzane Zuma's lawyer says that they agreed to meet the Hawks next week to discuss a case of corruption opened in 2016 against his client.

The son of the former president was detained for several hours at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday night.

Zuma is scheduled to appear before the Randburg magistrates' court next week for two counts of culpable homicide, but he returned early to South Africa to attend the funeral of his brother Vusi on Saturday.

Lawyer Rudi Krause says that Zuma has been detained at OR Tambo International Airport so that a Hawks detective can confirm that he is actually in the country.

While Eyewitness News understands that the Rosebank affair against Zuma is related to corruption, Krause says that the police refused to provide details about it.

The lawyer says he and Zuma have agreed to meet the police next week to discuss the matter.

Krause says his client was already scheduled to return to South Africa to appear before the Randburg Magistrates Court next week for two counts of culpable homicide.
