Presumed poacher trampled by elephants in Kruger Park – The Citizen

According to a SANParks media expert, Ike Phaahla, an alleged poacher was arrested shortly after being trampled by elephants in Kruger National Park on Sunday.

"He was arrested by SAPS after being injured while he was fleeing elephants," says Phaahla.

The incident occurred on the S21 (shown on the map below) in the park near Skukuza. On Thursday, SANParks announced the deadly shooting of a ranger in the park during a poaching incident

According to reports, the ranger and his colleagues made contact with a group of poachers that 39; they had been followed, supported by the K9 unit. As they approached the group, gunshots were exchanged, seriously injuring the upper bodyguard. A doctor came to stabilize him but he succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
