JOHANNEBURG – The Youth League of the African National Congress (ANCYL) on Monday accused its former leaders of being declared bankrupt by a court.
In a statement, the ANCYL said former leaders Julius Malema, Floyd Shivambu and Andile Lili had not honored an amicable agreement with Helen Zille to pay her legal fees after she had sued them for defamation because she had described the latter as "racist" in 2010.
The non-payment of court fees "The ANCYL was therefore informed of this case recently and after having been amended, we contacted all parties involved to quickly resolve the issue, "the statement said.
ANCYL wishes to categorically declare that ANCYL's management fulfilled its legal obligation and paid the debt after communicating with the parties concerned. "
The Youth League said again:"
The recent bill is one of the many problems that the ANCYL has inherited from the old structure under the direction from Malema. It must be said that this case has never been postponed following the dissolution of the ANCYL's previous structure. "
The league stated that it was consulting its lawyers to solve the problem.
