I was not on my knees, I showed him cattle – Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa again tried to clarify the meaning behind a photo of him kneeling next to Zulu king Goodwill Zwelithini who surfaced on social media recently.

The photo shows the kneeling president next to the Zulu king, while they both look in a book.

Ramaphosa has already expressed how the photo was misinterpreted. "Outraged", the presidency said the photo was taken last November, while the president was still a member of parliament.

Ramaphosa was, according to the presidency, showing the Zulu king his book on Ankole cattle. Addressing reporters after his trip to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates this week, Ramaphosa once again defended the controversial image, according to Sowetan.

He said that it was laughable to interpret the photo to suggest that he was kneeling in front of Zwelithini. According to the president, people should say "look at the president, he shows the king his book on cattle", as opposed to negative slanders.

The image began to revolve around social media after Ramaphosa met Zwelithini to discuss

The photo has people questioning whether Ramaphosa reinforced the stereotype that Zulus consider themselves better than other tribes [19659008] It's embarrbading, Ramaphosa is not subject to the Zulu king, why was he kneeling pic.twitter.com/cVIPblGA9L

Ramaphosa has embarrbaded not only anc, but SA as a whole to kneel before a king who is greedy and who depends on the government for a living?? pic.twitter. com / FjLtoHzXYo

Apparently, Ramaphosa was vice president at the time the photo was taken. Good.

Since he was DP, he can not be treated as if he was the subject of Zwelithini. This reinforces the stereotype! That's my opinion.

Note: I hope to see King Zwelithini kneel before King Victor Thulare
