Minister of Communications, Nomvula Mokonyane launched a review of public broadcasting policy. Members of the public as well as other stakeholders were invited to submit proposals.
The study hopes to find innovative ways to examine broadcasting in South Africa, particularly the mandate of the SABC

Mokonyane says that although this revision comes at a very late stage, it is necessary.
She says, "We need to reposition ourselves in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution and make sure we have capabilities, including how we shape our own communications and the trading tools we use."
