CAPE TOWN – The Reserve Bank of South Africa (SARB) has launched a new public awareness campaign to help you see if the coins and banknotes you have are real or false.
The campaign was introduced as part of Mandela's new commemorative series of bank notes and R5 coins.

4. You should also be able to see a Mandela watermark when you look at the front of the note and hold it in the direction of a light source.
5. You should be able to feel impressed on Mandela's face on the front of the note.
6. There is a series of "small dots" that you should be able to see on the front left and the right back of the notes.
The shiny safety thread in the center of the note should change color when viewed from a different angle.
8. You should be able to see a complete "animal" bottom left of the note holding it towards a light source.
