ST. GEORGE – The first booking slots in February to receive the COVID-19 vaccine have opened in southern Utah. In addition, there are now reservation slots available for those who receive their second injections of the vaccine to complete their inoculation.
Almost all of the booking slots for the remainder of January were filled within hours of being released by the Southwestern Utah Department of Public Health Last Monday, and technical issues with the ministry’s website also caused frustration for users.
A spokesperson for the health department said on Thursday that the website’s issues had been resolved.
Locations are available at the links below. There is also a dedicated hotline at 435-986-2549, although residents are only asked to use it if they are having difficulty getting connected.
Vaccines are currently available for people aged 70 and over, as well as K-12 teacher staff, first responders and medical personnel.
Separate second injection clinics are also open for those who received their first vaccine on or before January 4. A second vaccine is needed to receive full immunity against the coronavirus.
Get the COVID-19 vaccine
- Those who can currently receive the first dose of the vaccine: Everyone is 70 years old and over; Kindergarten to Grade 12 teachers and staff; those who work in non-hospital health care facilities (those in clinics, pharmacies, dentists or other medical offices); and first responders, including law enforcement, firefighters and paramedics.
- Those who can receive the second dose: Those who received their first injection on or before January 4.
- Must pre-register online for an appointment time. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
- Must have personal ID, employment card (if required) and wear short sleeve shirt when meeting.
- You must get the vaccine in the county where you live. Proof of residency is required. Part-time residents can be vaccinated with proof of residency.
- Vaccines are free.
- Those who do not have an e-mail address or cannot make an online reservation can get help from a dedicated hotline at 435-986-2549.
