Astronomers discover "overheated" planet with three suns

A distant rocky exoplanet was better than Tatooine, Luke Skywalker's home planet in "Star Wars," which is famous for having two suns in its sky.

Scientists at the Harvard Center for Astrophysics have used NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Satellite Survey (TESS) telescope to spot the planet LTT 1445Ab and its three stars.

"While the planet itself stays on what is probably a stable orbit around its star, this star also orbits, at a greater distance, two twin stars that are orbiting one around the planet." 39; other, "NASA said in a statement.

"The LTT 1445 Ab only takes five days to go once around its star – a" year "in the world," NASA said.

"Its very close orbit helps explain why its surface reaches temperatures of the order of 320 degrees Fahrenheit (160 degrees Celsius), which is comparable to a preheated oven."

This is not the first time that a planet with more than one star is discovered. NASA notes that our nearest neighbor of exoplanets, Proxima B, also has three stars in the sky. Proxima revolves around Proxima Centauri located at 4.25 light-years from Earth, which revolves around Alpha Centauri A and B.

In 2016, experts from the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and the University of San Diego used the Kepler Space Telescope to locate Kepler-1647b, a planet with two suns in the constellation Cygnus.
