LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Imagine traveling from South Florida to Walt Disney World at the speed of Space Mountain … or faster.

That day could happen in the next three years, as Brightline is considering shutting down its high-speed train system at or near the resort to allow passengers to easily get to the Magic Kingdom and all the others. Disney parks.

WFTV reports that the Florida Department of Transportation has cleared Brightline to begin negotiations on a lease to build a station on Interstate 4, near Walt Disney World.

The stop would be on a proposed 88-kilometer route from Orlando to Tampa connecting the south Florida line currently in service between Miami and West Palm Beach.

The company, which will soon be calling Virgin Trains USA, has promised to have trains serving Central Florida in the next three years.
