Broken hockey sticks are transformed into artificial reefs

Researchers in Florida are turning old broken hockey sticks into artificial reefs. Why hockey sticks? Mike Parson, Florida Gulf Coast University, said, "These are carbon composite materials, so they do not break down easily, so you throw them into a landfill and just sit there." Reused sticks will soon house marine life, including oysters. And these oysters help filter the water, potentially thousands of gallons a day.
