The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk will take place on Sunday, October 10 at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Park Avenue. Check-in starts at 12:30 p.m. and the walk starts at 2:00 p.m.

Masks are not required for fully vaccinated people, except in the survivors tent where everyone will need to wear a mask.

About 500 people are expected at the event, which will include a walk from the field to Lakemont Park and back, as well as a special tent for survivors. The goal is to raise $ 35,000. Thursday, the local effort raised $ 21,000. Money raised through this event, and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events held across the country, helps fund innovative breast cancer research, provides education and counseling to help people reduce their risk and to provide comprehensive support to those patients who need it most.

“Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in American women, affecting nearly one in eight women,” noted Dan Tobin, director of integrated regional marketing at the American Cancer Society. “The American Cancer Society is here for people in all communities affected by breast cancer, whether they are currently facing a diagnosis, may cope in the future, or are avoiding one altogether.” because of education and harm reduction. Making Progress Against Breast Cancer is an opportunity for people to show their support for those battling breast cancer, to celebrate those who have conquered the disease, and to honor those who are no longer with us.
