Filthy Fantasy misses the federal government's conclusions

The pleasure boat that brought the cruise all year to the Port of Charleston recently won one of the Carnival Cruise LineThe lowest health inspection scores of the Centers for Disaster Control and Prevention.

the Fantastic Carnival noted 77 out of a total of 100 during its last inspection on July 18, reported the federal agency. The inspectors identified dozens of problems, including: brown water coming out of the showers; inadequate sneeze protection protecting pizza and omelette bars; and at least 15 flies on bagels being served to the guests.

The Fantasy score is the third lowest of the cruise line in the history of CDC inspections, but it's not the lowest of all cruise ships. This "distinction" belongs to the Nippon Maru, who scored a 36 in 1998.

The Fantasy was the first ship to designate Charleston as the port of call. Navigation started in 2010. It was replaced in 2016 by the Carnival ecstasy, with the Carnival sun resuming his place Union Pier this spring.

Ecstasy and Sunshine both scored positive on their most recent inspections, with scores of 97 and 91 respectively.

The 29-year-old Fantasy is now based in Mobile Port in Alabama.

Hold your tongue

The leaders of the 20 state power cooperatives do not want to testify to their lobbying efforts in the South Carolina Statehouse.

For more than a year, state co-ops have been struggling with a very difficult legal battle against the government. Santee Cooper on the failure K.V. Summer nuclear project. As part of this litigation, Santee Cooper's lawyers sworn in several senior officials of the cooperatives.

Transcripts of these statements could help decide whether cooperatives can prevent Santee Cooper from charging its members with two abandoned nuclear reactors in Fairfield County.

The leaders of the cooperatives, however, believe that certain subjects should be banned during the depositions.

Last week, cooperatives formally asked a state judge to prevent Santee Cooper from asking questions about their trafficking in Colombia.

The cooperatives have been supportive of Santee Cooper's sale and have pushed lawmakers to open bids for the state-run utility this year. Cooperative lawyers described Santee Cooper's efforts to lobby for lobbying "an abuse of the discovery process".

"Such an interrogation would seem to have the sole purpose of obtaining an advantage in lobbying efforts, and not of obtaining information about the project (VC Summer) or about the claims or defenses involved in this litigation, "they said.

It will be up to the judge to decide whether or not to be bound to the trial.

Fly at low altitude

The cost of flying out of Charleston International slightly increased during the first quarter of the year, but rates are still historically low.

The last report of the US Department of Transportation shows that return ticket prices increased by approximately $ 14, to an average of $ 364 in the first three months of 2019 compared to the last quarter of 2018, where they were the lowest since $ 350 in 1996.

Higher fuel costs earlier this year contributed to higher fares.

Last year, the average cost of the ticket to the Charleston International Airport was $ 357, which is close to the lowest rate ever recorded.

Although the fare in Charleston, the state's busiest terminal, is low, it's not the cheapest in South Carolina. This distinction remains with Myrtle Beach, which had an average rate of $ 329 in the first quarter.

It's also cheaper to take the plane Florence or Hilton Head than Greenville or Columbia.

Florence's rate is $ 385, while Hilton's rate is $ 399.

A sample of Greenville-Spartanburg airport rates averages $ 407 for the January to March period. The Columbia airport has landed at the highest rates, $ 460.

The national average for the first quarter was $ 352.
