The Giants wrapped up their last series at Dodger Stadium in a chaotic fashion Thursday night, and made modern MLB history in the process.
After the Giants claimed a 7-2 win in Game 1 of the series on Monday night, each of the following three games featured a ninth inning full of comebacks.
On Tuesday night, it was the Dodgers who got an impressive home run from wide receiver Will Smith against Tyler Rogers to give the defending World Series champions an 8-6 victory.
The pendulum then shifted back to the Giants for the final two games of the series, as Dodgers closest all-star Kenley Jansen made saves on back-to-back nights.
First, it was Wilmer Flores who crushed a fastball high in the left-field bleachers at Dodger Stadium with the Giants trailing to fabricate a 4-2 comeback victory on Wednesday.

In the series finale, a reverse force at second base ultimately led Jansen to walk the race tied on a controversial sluggish appeal from the first base umpire.
LaMonte Wade Jr. then drove a straight field single that scored a pair of runs and the Giants capped a crucial series win with a 5-3 victory over the Dodgers.
The series would have been exciting despite the long-standing rivalry between these teams, but it also had a major impact on NL West’s standings. Instead of the Giants losing and hanging on to a one-game lead in the Division, Thursday night’s comeback win pushed the margin to three games before a weekend streak with the Pittsburgh Pirates, owners of the second-worst MLB record.
It was a series to remember in Tinseltown, and tensions are sure to be high when these teams meet next week in San Francisco on July 27.
