Chevy Volt Production officially ended

A little earlier than expected, too.

It's now official. Chevrolet put an end to the production of its Volt. The plug-in hybrid that helped revive the electric vehicle revolution will no longer be coming out of the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. The cessation seems to be a little earlier than expected. When contacted after the announcement of the first demise of the model, the manufacturer announced that production would be halted in March of this year.

In appearance, the decision to shoot down the Chevy Volt was made because the company plans to close the entire plant in which it is built. However, it is now announced that the facilities will remain open until January 2020, selling anti-pollution machines such as the Chevrolet Impala and the Cadillac CT6. The Buick LaCrosse, which is also produced there, has not had a break.

This really marks the end of an era. The car was very appealing to those who thought that an all-electric vehicle could not completely satisfy their needs. The 2019 edition makes it possible to travel a distance of 100 km classified EPA with a charge before the gasoline engine starts to keep the vehicle moving. In fact, this has been a huge commercial success in parts of the United States and by 2018, it has slightly surpassed its 100% electric equivalent, the Chevy Bolt, by a few hundred units on our sales dashboard plug-in in.

The situation is particularly sad for our InsideEVs Resident owner of the Volt. Her car serves it well enough, although, as shown in the photo below, she has also recently been put on ice.

The demise of the model does not mean the end of the road for plug-in hybrids with a large range. The Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid works effectively in a very similar way, allowing owners to drive primarily with battery power, but also to move well beyond its range of 48 km without having to stop at loading station.

If your heart is still on a Chevrolet Volt, good news. A certain amount of inventory is still available at car dealerships – some at incredible prices. In addition, our sister site, MYEV.COM, has dozens of already-loved examples awaiting their return home.
