Chinese Communist Party hints Italy could be the source of Wuhan virus

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) jumped on a medical study suggesting that the Wuhan virus was present in Italy as early as September to claim that the European nation was the epicenter of the virus rather than China.

A study published in the Italian Cancer Journal, the Tumor Journal, claimed that antibodies to the coronavirus were found in blood samples from cancer screenings carried out in September last year in Italy, indicating that there may have been contact with the coronavirus earlier than we didn’t think so.

One of the experts involved in the study, Giovanni Apolone, from the National Cancer Institute in Milan, was made clear in an interview with the Times of London that the study does not exclude China as the initiator of the virus.

“We know that China has delayed announcing its outbreak, so it’s unclear when it started there, and China has very strong trade ties with northern Italy,” Apolone said.

The Beijing dictatorship was quick to seize the study, however, with Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian suggesting the virus may have originated outside of China.

“This shows once again that finding the source of the virus is a complex scientific question that should be left to scientists. [It] is a development process that can involve several countries, ”Zhao said.

The CCP has previously accused the US military of spreading the virus and claimed that Spain was the original epicenter of the coronavirus. Spain and Italy experienced the largest outbreaks of the Chinese coronavirus during the initial stages of the pandemic in the spring.

Right-wing populist Italian senator Matteo Salvini blasted China’s latest demands, writing on social networks: “INCREDIBLE. Now China identifies Italy as the place of origin of Covid !!! Between lies, secrets and delays, the Chinese Communist dictatorship with its virus has caused incalculable damage to the world.

“They should be forced to pay infinite compensation, rather than accusing the Italians of being the infectors!” Salvini added.

The Italian study has been criticized by international scientists, including Texas A&M University-Texarkana virologist Benjamin Neuman, who questioned the ability of oncologists to understand viruses.

“Scientists are generally only experts in a narrow area,” Neuman added, adding: “It is likely that the peer review would have been carried out by critics and editors familiar with some aspect of cancer biology, but not in virus research. “

China has long been accused of trying to cover up the outbreak in Wuhan, with a May report from the Five Eyes intelligence alliance including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the United Kingdom. United States claiming that the Communist regime had “disappeared”. whistleblower doctors.

The report went on to detail the CCP’s efforts to censor information about the outbreak, as well as the destruction of samples of the virus in laboratories and their refusal to hand over samples to international scientists, which the record attributed to delaying the release. virus cure.

More recently, the Chinese government indicted Shanghai-based citizen journalist Zhang Zhan for allegedly spreading “false information” about the virus in her reporting from Wuhan earlier this year.

Zhang was charged with “stirring up feuds and causing trouble,” a charge often used to silence political dissidents in China and carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. The Communist Party-controlled justice system has a conviction rate of 99%, a fact that is often decried by international human rights defenders.
