Conman charges 92-year-old woman £ 160 for fake vaccine injection

London police are tracking down a fraudster who swindled a woman in the ’90s by giving her a fake vaccine injection and charging her £ 160 for it.

An official call for information from the City of London Police’s Intellectual Property Crimes Unit says the scammer targeted the victim at his home on Kingsmead Avenue in Surbiton on December 30, coming to his door in broad daylight and pretending to be a National Health An employee of the service (NHS) came to vaccinate her against the Chinese coronavirus.

“The victim let the man into her home and received a puncture in her arm with what she described as a ‘dart-shaped instrument’,” the call said.

“The man then asked for £ 160, which the victim paid as he said he would be reimbursed by the NHS, before leaving the scene,” the call continues, adding that he returned on January 4 to ask for an additional £ 100 – although the outcome of this visit is unclear.

“This is a disgusting and utterly unacceptable assault on a member of the public that will not be tolerated,” said Detective Inspector Kevin Ives of the City of London Police.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have information that could help us identify this man to make contact. It is crucial that we catch it as soon as possible because not only does it defraud people, but it can also put people’s lives at risk, ”he added.

Police urge members of the public who may have more information about the fraudster to contact them directly by dialing 101, the police non-urgent phone number, “citing reference 3042 and the date January 07, 2021” .

Those who prefer to keep their advice anonymous are urged to contact the independent charity Crimestoppers instead, either by phone on 0800 555 111 or through their website, citing the same date and reference number.
