Costco announced on Saturday that it would begin providing vaccines against the coronavirus to certain locations in California, including one in Marin County.
Novato’s supermarket pharmacy will administer the vaccine, but currently only healthcare workers are eligible, according to Costco’s booking page. There are currently availability on Fridays.
Some Costco stores in Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties also carry vaccines.
Outside of California, Costco stores in New York, Oregon and Puerto Rico are also among those providing the vaccine.
Costco officials did not immediately respond to a request for more information, especially when other locations in the Bay Area may start offering vaccines.
Several CVS sites in the Bay Area transport the vaccine, in cities such as Alameda, Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco and San Jose. Additional CVS sites will carry the COVID-19 vaccine once the supply is no longer available, the drugstore chain said.
Costco’s website said the store will offer a “limited” number of vaccines for the coronavirus – typically Moderna – in its available locations. The site discouraged patients from contacting Costco pharmacies directly, “because they are not able to make an appointment or provide current eligibility requirements.”
