Saint Anthony – COVID-19 cases have increased this week along with the positivity rate, according to Metro Health.

The positivity rate jumped to 5.8% this week from 3.8% last week. The seven-day moving average is now 126 cases, up from 104 cases a week ago.

As cases increase, fewer people are getting tested for COVID-19. Metro Health reports that the number of people tested has dropped 61% in recent weeks and urges people with symptoms to get tested even if they are fully vaccinated.

Metro Health officials are also reminding people who have received a single dose of the vaccine to come back for the second dose. There are over 100,000 residents of Bexar County who have not.

“As we see an increase in the number of people testing positive for COVID-19, we would like to stress that it is more important than ever to make sure you are fully vaccinated to avoid contracting the virus and becoming seriously ill. or require hospitalization, ”said Dr Anita Kurian, Metro Health’s deputy director of the communicable disease division.
