A total of 49 deaths from COVID-19 have been reported in the region in the past seven days (August 25-31), nearly double the 25 reported the previous week (August 18-24), the company said. County Health and Social Services Agency. today.
Newly reported deaths include 37 men and 12 women. Most of the deaths occurred in late August. Forty-one had underlying health conditions, four did not and four had a pending medical history.

Public health officials expected more people to get vaccinated after the Food and Drug Administration approved the Pfizer vaccine on August 23. The region has seen a slight increase in vaccinations.
On average, 3,749 residents of San Diegan received their first dose per day between August 23 and August 28. In comparison, an average of 3,651 people received their first injection between August 17 and 22.
“The unvaccinated San Diegans are mainly the ones who end up in hospital and unfortunately die,” Wooten said.

They can be found at health care providers, retail pharmacies, community clinics, and county public health centers for people who do not have a health care provider. - 949 cases of COVID-19 were reported to the county on August 31. The region’s total is now 335,302.

- 17,204 tests were reported to the county on August 31 and the percentage of new positive cases was 5.5%.
- The 14-day rolling percentage of positive cases among tests is 6.6%.
Community outbreaks:
- 66 new community outbreaks have been confirmed in the last seven days (August 25 to August 31): 15 in commercial settings, 11 in daycare / preschool / daycare, nine in restaurant / bar, six in retail, five in health health care facilities, five in faith-based establishments, four in primary education establishments TK-12, three in public establishments, two in construction establishments, one in an emergency services establishment, one in a hotel / a resort / spa, one at a restaurant, one at a grocery store, one at a distribution warehouse, and one at a college / university.
