July 28, 2018, 15:57 Guatemala, July 28 (Prensa Latina) Guatemala's Minister of Public Health, Carlos Soto, announced today that everything is ready to continue the vaccination campaign for Preventing cancer of the womb

Soto said they already rely on vaccines to initiate in September the vaccination of the 180,000 girls who received the first dose last March.

With this new step the scheme would be filled to prevent infection by the human papillomavirus (HPV), the leading cause of most types of cervical cancer in the world, according to the data from the National Cancer Institute of the United States.

The official confirmed that the results of the first application were high, reaching more than 90 percent of the national dose.

In this effort, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education jointly participate to ensure the well-being of children.

"We will reach the same level of coverage and with that we will prevent girls from suffering from this disease in 20 years," Soto told the national press.

According to the Health Portfolio, each year more than 1,300 women are diagnosed with uterine cancer and half of them die from this disease
