Former Obama adviser, David Axelrod, has expressed concern that former Vice President Joe Biden "plays into the caricature" of President Trump, who questions the leader's ability Democrat to lead.
Trump and Biden exchanged violent attacks on Tuesday as they both stopped in Iowa. The president told reporters outside the White House that the former vice president was "mentally weak".
Appearing on CNN, Axelrod warned that Biden's campaign schedule, compared to other Democrat competitors, left him open to such criticism.
"What's important for Biden, in my opinion, is to conduct an energetic campaign that dispels all these cartoons," Axelrod told CNN host Anderson Cooper. "He has not had a very busy campaign schedule, he has sort of played in the caricature and I think he's going to have to come up … with ideas and an energetic campaign."

Axelrod, who is now host and political analyst on CNN, explained that before the caucus of Iowa, people "expect to see you" and "want to interact with you," pointing out that the candidates "must be present".
"You can not make visits without a warrant and use them as a backdrop to attack the president," Axelrod added. "You have to do a lot more than that, so I think it's very important."
The comments came after Biden responded to Trump on Tuesday.
In what might be a preview of the White House's election campaign for next year's general election, Biden is about to blame the Republican president for threatening tariffs on his global trading partners . Noting the impact it has had on US producers and producers, Biden plans to call Trump an "existential threat" to the country.

The former vice president's remarks, released Tuesday morning by his election campaign, contain more than 40 Trump's name endorsements, including some of Biden's most virulent attacks on the president.
