Vaccinations against Covid-19 are growing at Meijer pharmacies, which are opening vaccination clinics statewide this week and plan to administer up to 25,000 doses by the end of the week for those who have to under 65.

Advance registrations and appointments are required here, or text “COVID” to 75049. In-person check-in at stores is another method.

People who signed up earlier started receiving text invitations today to pick a time at the Detroit store on Woodward at 8 Mile Road and other branches.

The Grand Rapids-based chain, which has about 125 stores in Michigan, says in an ad:

As a CDC approved partner, the Meijer Pharmacy has already started administering and will continue to administer the free Covid-19 vaccines as soon as they are available to us. …

Since its first clinic on Jan. 15, the retailer has administered more than 20,000 doses in Michigan and more than 30,000 doses in total, primarily to people aged 65 and over. This week’s aggressive immunization schedule is made possible through partnerships with several counties and cities in Michigan, as well as doses received from the state of Michigan and the Centers for Disease Control. …

Vaccination clinics run by Meijer are not open for visits. … Meijer encourages anyone interested in receiving the vaccine to sign up, as the retailer intends to eventually offer the vaccine to all eligible Michiganders … in the weeks and months to come.

After the first shot, recipients will be booked for a second dose in three weeks.
