Deshaun Watson would prefer commerce to Jets

Go ahead, Jets fans. Dream Big – Deshaun Watson Big.

According to the Miami Herald, the disgruntled Pro Bowl quarterback has the Jets at the top of his wishlist, followed by rivals the Dolphins.

Watson, a 25-year-old star, has become disenchanted with the Texans and has a no-trade clause, which gives him power over his next stop. The Miami Herald reported that Watson was in love with the Jets’ new coach Robert Saleh and wanted the Texans to target the former 49ers defensive coordinator for their vacant head coach position.

Watson, a three-time Pro Bowler, is said to be angry with the Texans because after initially being promised he would be part of their recruiting process for their new GM, his contribution was largely ignored. The team eventually hired former Patriots executive Nick Caserio. Watson was also angry last year when the Texans traded his primary target, DeAndre Hopkins, to the Cardinals.

49ers cornerback Richard Sherman applauded the Jets’ hiring of Saleh and told Watson he should push the Texans to trade him there.

“I’ll get out of there as fast as I can, get to New York,” Sherman recently said on the Cris Collinsworth podcast.

This report is the latest example of Watson’s potential desire to play for the Jets. The Texans star’s official Instagram account liked a photo from Monday’s Post’s back page saying the Jets should do “whatever it takes” to acquire the quarterback.

Watson has also been in the area, attending a Brooklyn Nets game last week, and would be friendly with Kevin Durant.

The Jets were lucky enough to push Watson out of Clemson in 2017, but took safety Jamal Adams at No.6. Watson fell to the Texans at No.12.
