Disney Cruise Line Releases COVID Testing Requirements and Health Guidelines Before Cruise Resumes

With the announcement that Disney Cruise Line will resume cruises in August, all of its new health and safety guidelines are being announced.

The Disney Cruise Line website describes everything customers need to know before their cruise and what the guidelines will be on board the ship and at ports of call.

Disney Cruise Line is unable to require a COVID-19 vaccination, but strongly encourages all guests to be vaccinated before their cruise. All guests aged 2 and over, including those who are fully vaccinated, will be required to wear a face cover indoors.

From 33 days before their cruise, each passenger must create an Inspire Diagnostics account associated with their reservation on the Safe Passage website and create an account associated with their reservation.

Fully vaccinated passengers can provide proof of vaccination on the Safe Passage website at least 24 hours prior to departure. Passengers are also recommended to bring proof of vaccination (vaccination card) to the port for boarding.

Passengers who fail to provide proof of vaccination must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test performed between 5 days and 24 hours prior to their departure date. They can order a kit directly from Inspire Diagnostics or download another vendor’s test results from the Safe Passage website. On the cruise departure date, passengers will also be required to undergo a rapid COVID-19 PCR test at the terminal prior to boarding.

Passengers who test positive for COVID-19, as well as those in their travel group, will be denied boarding. Passengers may also be denied boarding if Inspire Diagnostics has not received the required documentation and / or the results of pre-arrival tests necessary to navigate. Customers who receive positive test results should not proceed to the cruise terminal.

Prior to boarding, customers must also download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, which can be used to make reservations, communicate with onboard customer services, and join the virtual queue for disembarkation.

In order to enforce physical distancing at the terminal, guests must complete online check-in at least one day prior to their departure date. Online check-in is available from 30 days before the departure date. Online check-in includes filling out important documents and selecting a port arrival time. Customers will not be allowed into the terminal or parking areas before their scheduled arrival time. All customers must also complete a health questionnaire before arriving at the terminal. The questionnaire will be available by email or on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.

On the ship, several health and safety measures will be put in place in addition to the mandatory masks. New signage and ground beacons have been installed to help customers navigate and promote physical distancing. Physical barriers, including plexiglass, have also been installed in some places. Particular attention is paid to cleaning high-traffic surfaces, including handrails, door handles and elevator buttons, as well as youth areas, dining rooms and cabins.

Live shows at the Walt Disney Theater, as well as film screenings at the Buena Vista Theater and Funnel Vision, will have physically distant seats. The parties on the bridge have been halted, but the fireworks will still be launched. Close-up appearances with characters have been suspended, but they will interact with guests from a distance.

Meal times will be staggered and only one travel group will be seated at each table. Digital menus will be available on the app. Fast food and beverage outlets will still be available but will be served by crew members instead of self-serve.

Parents must register children for Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Lab during the online check-in process and reserve specific session times online or through the app. Only one parent or guardian can drop off or pick up children at a time. Parents are not allowed to enter youth clubs during drop-off and pick-up. All children should wash their hands when entering and leaving. They will interact in groups of 15 other children and a Disney advisor.

No reservations are required for Vibe and Edge, which will be open. The “c’est un petit monde” nursery will be temporarily unavailable.

All port adventures are subject to availability and operate at a limited capacity.
