Fauci said California was facing an “unimaginable” COVID situation.

In an interview with internal medicine at the University of Washington on Jan. 7, Fauci commented on the worsening situation in California. “There are some areas of the country that are really getting to the point of what we consider to be unimaginable where you actually have to sort through and figure out who is going to be taken care of and who is not,” Fauci said. “I am referring specifically to the very difficult situation happening in California.”

Fauci added that he was referring in particular to Los Angeles County “where they are running out of beds, and they have an exhausted staff working almost 24 hours a day.” Earlier this week, to show how stretched hospitals are, reports revealed that Los Angeles emergency medical workers were told not to transfer emergency room patients who experience cardiac arrest or those which have low chances of survival.
