SpaceX capsule returns four civilians from orbit, concluding first tourist mission
Musk tweeted, “Count me in for $ 50 million” in response to Inspiration4’s public appeal for donations on Saturday.

The capsule splashed off the coast of Florida on Saturday night, concluding the first-ever flight to Earth orbit carrying only space tourists.

“Thanks so much SpaceX, it was a hell of a ride for us,” billionaire and Inspiration4 mission commander Jared Isaacman said on the company’s livestream.

Along with Musk, Isaacman funded the mission and organized the trip. He billed the mission as a fundraiser for St. Jude, and by the time of Saturday night’s water landing, it had reached $ 160 million. Isaacman personally donated $ 100 million to fundraising.

One of the passengers was Hayley Arceneaux, a 29-year-old cancer survivor who works as a medical assistant in St. Jude. The hospital chose Arceneaux for this mission at the request of Isaacman.

There’s also an upcoming auction to benefit St. Jude that will sell some of the items the crew took to space, including signed collectibles and non-fungible tokens, or NFTs.
