The deadline for the last extension master gardeners of the county of Valencia and the Newsletter The Courtyard / Garden of the month contest for the season will take place on Friday October 8.

Nominations or entries can be made for any garden or garden in Valencia County, with the winner receiving a prize of $ 100 and a photo of the winning garden also appearing in October 14. Newsletter.

Merlinda Acevedo, chairwoman of the Valencia County Master Gardeners, said the judges will visit the nominated yards on Saturday, October 9 and examine the appearance and maintenance of the yard, variety of plants, water use, creativity and design.

Applications / registrations must include:

  • The name and telephone number of the owner of the yard / garden;
  • The address of the courtyard / garden location (all proposed courtyards / gardens must be in the county of Valencia);
  • A brief statement explaining why the yard / garden deserves the award;
  • Entries / nominations should be sent by noon on Friday October 8, and should be submitted by email to Merlinda Acevedo at [email protected] or to Rigo Chavez at [email protected].
  • Proposers / participants can also submit up to two photos of the nominated yard / garden via email.

The Valencia County Extension Master Gardeners is a community service program of the New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service and offers classes and information to help community members improve their gardening skills.
