Erin Andrews talks about her in vitro fertilization (IVF) journey, a “long and emotionally draining process” that she has gone through in private since the age of 35.
“I don’t keep it a secret anymore,” the 43-year-old wrote in a personal essay on Facebook Bulletin.
The veteran sports presenter and former “Dancing With the Stars” co-host has revealed she is undergoing her seventh round of IVF and has vowed to be “vocal and honest about it.”
“I’m 43 now, so my body is kind of against me,” wrote Andrews, who underwent successful surgery after being diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016. “J ‘ has been trying for IVF treatment for a while now, but sometimes it just doesn’t go the way you want it to. “

Andrews, the lead reporter for Fox Sports’ NFL broadcast team, said she was “stressed” to juggle fertility dates ahead of the NFL kickoff next month: “When is that happens, it really makes you wonder: is this my family’s future or is it my job?
“I work in an industry where I think women feel the need to keep this stuff quiet,” she wrote. “I decided that this time around I would be open with my show producers.”
She continued, “I’m grateful I did. They encouraged me to be open about this because it’s real life. It’s not like I’m going on a hot yoga class, I’m trying to have a baby. I’m not ashamed. “
Andrews married former NHL hockey player Jarret Stoll in June 2017.
Andrews said that many women generally keep IVF treatments silent because they can “feel like we are a failure as women or for our partners” if it doesn’t turn out the way you hoped. She added: “More often than not, they fail.”
“The whole treatment has such a mental and emotional impact on your body,” she wrote. “You could go through this whole experience and get absolutely nothing out of it – that’s the crazy part. It’s a ton of money, it’s a ton of time, it’s a ton of mental and physical angst. . “

But “something hit me” in the seventh round, Andrews said. “Why am I keeping this so secret when it’s a part of our lives?
“It’s a team that no one wants to be a part of. We are all going through this and going through a rough time. It can be so isolating, but in reality we are all here together,” she wrote. “Instead of being ashamed, we need to give ourselves more love.”
Andrews said if Tom Brady could win her seventh Super Bowl at 43, then she could continue her parenting journey. She called it her “Tom Brady pep talk”.
