In this article, the Precious Atendido Program Advisor explains how you can benefit from the many free services offered by the EOC.
Precious has been working with UH in general for a decade and 3 years for the Maui EOC in particular. She enjoys working with the college system to help students or people in general take the plunge. She provides advice on career exploration, assessment, resume creation and more to get them set on the right foot.
“This is my ‘Why’ statement, my goal. Help students take the plunge, inspire and equip people to learn and grow. That’s what I love to do, whether it’s in this role or even in my personal life.
Precious’s message today is to let everyone know that the EOC is open and ready to help. Since the start of the pandemic, the EOC has had to be creative in finding ways to reach the community, mainly due to new COVID restrictions on campus. The lack of classes and in-person students means it’s hard to let the community know they’re still available. The main idea is that the center of economic opportunity should be the first stop on your path to higher education and learning.
“I want to tell people to go ahead and use our services! There are people here to help you out and you don’t have to try to navigate the system or get on your own. You can make a simple phone call and we can meet face to face or via video chat. This is a free service, use it. We ensure a link with all other departments and services, we are the first step on your way.
One of the best benefits of using the EOC is help with finding scholarships, creating personal statements, and applying for financial aid. Valuable member of staff and kanaloa student who is an ace in finding scholarships for students. He himself was able to pay off almost all of his student debt without any student debt and paid for entirely by scholarships. He is there to help you with the EOC. They even help with transfer to other colleges and job and career opportunities. Plus, they even have a program for kids and teens called ETS, Educational Talent Search. Think of this as a pre-service that also prepares young people for college.
