FDA Provides Multifaceted Response to the Opioid Abuse Epidemic

WASHINGTON – The Food and Drug Administration is planning new measures to combat the abuse of opioid analgesics, ranging from new dosage forms to small packs, to a review of its opioid safety measures.

The new FDA measures are an additional effort to curb the opioid addiction crisis that has resulted in approximately 47,000 overdose deaths from opioid-analgesics and painkillers in 2017.
