According to Dr.Anthony Fauci, the chief medical adviser to the president and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the three available COVID-19 vaccines are “safe and effective.”
A report from Eat This, Not That, quotes Dr Fauci as saying, “I would take any vaccine I have as quickly as possible.”
However, the Food and Drug Administration says there is a “very small subset” of people who “shouldn’t” get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The report cites FDA guidelines, including the ingredients for each vaccine, below.
the FDA says, “You should not get the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine if you:
• have had a severe allergic reaction after a previous dose of this vaccine,
• has had a serious allergic reaction to any of the ingredients in this vaccine. ”
“The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine contains the following ingredients: messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA), lipids (SM-102, polyethylene glycol [PEG] 2000 dimyristoyl glycerol [DMG], cholesterol and 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine [DSPC]), tromethamine, tromethamine hydrochloride, acetic acid, sodium acetate and sucrose. ”
the FDA says, “You should not get the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine if you:
• have had a severe allergic reaction after a previous dose of this vaccine,
• have had a serious allergic reaction to any of the ingredients in this vaccine.
“The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine includes the following ingredients: mRNA, lipids ((4-hydroxybutyl) azanediyl) bis (hexane-6,1-diyl) bis (2-hexyldecanoate), 2 [(polyethylene glycol)-2000]-N, N-ditetradecylacetamide, 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine and cholesterol), potassium chloride, monobasic potassium phosphate, sodium chloride, dibasic sodium phosphate dihydrate and sucrose. ”
the FDA says, “You shouldn’t get the Janssen [aka Johnson & Johnson] COVID-19 vaccine if you:
• has had a serious allergic reaction to any of the ingredients in this vaccine. ”
The Janssen COVID-19 vaccine comprises the following ingredients: recombinant adenovirus type 26 replication incompetent expressing the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, citric acid monohydrate, trisodium citrate dihydrate, ethanol, 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin ( HBCD), polysorbate-80, sodium chloride. ”
What side effects can you expect?
The report cites the FDA as saying, “These are the most common side effects: injection site pain, fatigue, headache, muscle pain, chills, joint pain, fever, swelling at the injection site, redness. at the injection site, nausea, feeling unwell, swollen lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy); non-severe allergic reactions such as rash, itching, hives or swelling of the face; and severe allergic reactions. “
The report noted, however, that “severe reactions were rare” and, according to doctors, many of these reactions show that your body has an “appropriate” response to the vaccine.
Here is what you should tell your vaccine administrator before you get the vaccine.
A Yahoo report cites the FDA, which said you should, “Tell the vaccine supplier of all your medical conditions, including whether you: have any allergies, have a fever, have a bleeding disorder, or are safe. a blood thinner, are immunocompromised or take a medicine that affects your immune system, are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, are breastfeeding, have received another COVID-19 vaccine. “
So, should you get the vaccine?
Unless you have the allergy problems described by the FDA above, Eat This, Not That Quote the FDA saying, “Yes! As soon as possible!”
“When you get a COVID-19 vaccine, you choose to protect yourself and make a difference for your children, parents, grandparents and other loved ones,” the agency says, “millions of people in the United States have already received a COVID -19 vaccine. For a community to be fully protected, most community members need to be immunized. Getting the COVID-19 vaccine will help protect you from COVID-19 and may also protect people around you. “
