Former Governor of Maine: "The Money of Democrats comes largely from" Jews ""

A former Republican Maine governor said on Monday that "the Democratic Party's money came from" mostly Jewish donors "- a recent escalation of speeches from politicians and press figures widely criticized for their fanaticism.

Paul LePage, who left Governor Augusta's residence in January after two terms, made the remarks during an interview with a local radio station in Portland, Maine, in which he reprimanded statements by the representative, Ilhan Omar (D-Min.) about Israel during the last month.

"The Jewish people in America have been a big supporter of the Democratic Party," LePage told WGAN-AM. "In fact, it is from there that their money comes in. They should be absolutely insulted for what she said."

Omar was initially blamed for hinting that Jewish Americans supporting Israel had gained the political loyalty of politicians – apparently the same belief that LePage was marrying while he was excusing her.

LePage also suggested that Jews would give Democrats less money because of the language of Omar, which provoked bipartisan repudiation and a House resolution condemning hate speech.

"I think what they could do, the fundraiser could be a little hurt," he said. "But I do not think they're going to abandon the Democratic Party."

The reaction to Omar's statements also includes a segment of Fox News weekend, hosted by host Jeanine Pirro, which many viewers have described as Islamophobic and that denounced network. During the broadcast of his "Justice" program on Saturday night, Pirro suggested that Omar support sharia law in defiance of the US Constitution because she wore a hijab.

"She does not get this doctrine of anti-Israel sentiment from the Democratic Party. So, if it's not rooted in the party, where does it come from? Pirro said. "Think about it, Omar is wearing a hijab that, according to Koran 33:59, asks women to cover themselves so as not to be molested."

Pirro added, "Does his adherence to this Islamic doctrine reveal his adherence to Sharia law, which is in itself a contradiction of the US Constitution?"

"We strongly condemn the words of Jeanine Pirro about the representative, Ilhan Omar," said Sunday Fox News in a statement. "They do not reflect those of the network and we addressed the issue directly with her."

Omar on monday expressed gratitude to the network for his response to Pirro, tweeting: "" Thanks, @ FoxNews. No one should question the commitment of anyone to our constitution because of his faith or country of birth. "
