EXCLUSIVE SURVEY – According to the Opinionway survey for LCI-RTL-Le Figaro, a large majority of French demand the outright cancellation of the increase in taxes on fuel.
The speech of Emmanuel Macron, this Tuesday, will not be enough to calm the anger of the French. Far from there. According to the first poll conducted by Opinionway for RTL-LCI-Le Figaro after the intervention of the Head of State, 76% of French believe that the measures announced by the Head of State – the modulation of fuel taxes in oil price and a national debate on the ecological transition – are not enough. With the exception of LaREM supporters, who rate these ads as "sufficient" at 63%, anger remains strong regardless of the partisan affiliation of the respondents.
According to the survey, 78% of French demand the outright cancellation of fuel tax increases scheduled for next January. 93% of supporters of the National Rally and 91% of those of insubordinate France are on this position. Even worse for Emmanuel Macron, the benevolence of the French with regard to "yellow vests" continues to grow. They are now 66% to support the movement, two points higher than in the last wave of the survey, conducted on November 21 and 22.
The sometimes violent gatherings of "yellow vests" observed last Saturday, especially on the Champs-Elysees, have not changed the perception of the French movement. And the speech of Emmanuel Macron, this Tuesday, did not have the effect expected by the Elysee.
