Revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Rivian R1S is coming out on the Tesla lands on the premium electric SUV segment.

We take the same and we start again! After the electric pickup R1T presented at the beginning of the week, Rivian unveils the declination of his first model.

Unsurprisingly, the R1S data sheet is strictly identical to that of the R1T, a platform equipped with four 147 kW electric motors in three versions:

• 105 kWh with 300 kW of power, 386 kilometers of range and a 0 to 96 km / h in 4.9 seconds.
• 135 kWh with 562 kW, 498 kilometers of range, and a 0 to 96 km / h of 3 seconds.
• 180 kWh with power of 522 kW, 659 kilometers of range, and a 0 to 96 km / h shot down 3.2 seconds.

Limited to versions 105 and 135 kWh – probably for problems of integration of the battery pack – the 7-seater declination receives three rows of seats: two in the front, three in the middle and two in the back. The interior remains very close to the one presented on the R1T with a minimalist configuration consisting of a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation completed by a 15.6-inch screen placed in a horizontal position.

In terms of dimensions, the electric SUV Rivian rises on 5.040 m in length and 2.015 m in width. It offers a towing capacity of 3500 kilos.

Starting from 72,000 dollars

Sold $ 3,000 more than the R1T pickup, the Rivian R1S is announced from $ 72,000 excluding taxes.

Pre-orders have already been launched for a first payment of $ 1,000. Commercialization planned for 2020 on the American market. At this stage, the manufacturer does not specify its ambitions for Europe.
