A water meter could help seniors at home

What if a smart water meter allowed seniors to live longer at home? This is the idea defended by an innovation presented this Thursday at Pollutec in Lyon, reports RTL.

This communicating water meter, which measures consumption once a day, could detect the slightest anomaly and warn the family or rescue if needed. And this, with the agreement of the person concerned.

Many uses

Unlike the controversial Linky meter, the smart water meter operates through radio waves. And its uses are numerous. For example, says RTL, a drop in water consumption may indicate that the person is no longer washing, or taking showers in the middle of the night and no longer sleeping.

The left bank of Paris, and the cities of Le Mans, Mulhouse, and Marseille are already equipped with these meters, or nearly 4 million homes, notes the radio.
