Self-medication instead of consulting a doctor is often fraught with consequences. While trying to "purge her colon", an American woman found nothing better than drinking a liter of soy sauce, a move that almost cost her life. After having suffered a cardiac arrest, she is now suffering from serious irreversible brain damage.

A 39-year-old American woman found herself disabled after drinking a liter of soy sauce, the Insider portal reported. The reasons for her gesture are quite simple: the young woman wanted to "purge her colon" and without worrying about possible serious consequences, she indulged in self-medication.

However, this gesture proved unfortunate: the woman had a cardiac arrest and now has irreversible brain dysfunctions. She was immediately taken to the hospital where she was taken care of by doctors.

After doing the necessary tests, the doctors found that the American woman had 200 grams of salt in her blood.

As explained in the Why Doctor portal, this blood salt level is five times the lethal dose defined by the various health authorities.
After swallowing such a quantity of sauce, the woman felt palpitations, stomach cramps and even tingling in the extremities. His brain, kidneys and heart were seriously damaged by the sauce.

Despite all the attempts of the doctors, who had to inject water and sugar to hydrate her, the woman will remain handicapped, the malfunctions being too serious to be cured.
