Discussions were long but the employees of the Total de Gonfreville-l'Orcher refinery near Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) finally suspended their strike.
After the failure of negotiations with the Ufip (Union Française des Industries Pétrolières) to find a branch agreement last week, union representatives from Total hoped to find a point of agreement at the company level. Negotiations again failed Wednesday, November 28, 2018. The next day, the employees of Gonfreville-l'Orcher (Seine-Maritime) therefore had a long debate before finally deciding to suspend the strike.

Salary Negotiations and Premiums
"The strike will be suspended on all sites Total tonight, says Thierry Defresne, delegate CGT. We are waiting for the date of December 11th, the day of the mandatory annual salary negotiations, to provoke further general meetings on the sites and to find out whether the employees are satisfied by the latest proposals from management. "
Employees are not convinced and do not trust the future intentions of Total's executives.
The stake of these negotiations: to ensure "the durability of various elements of wages guaranteed today by the collective agreement until December 31", specifies the trade union representative. A collective agreement challenged by Macron orders.
