How does it work?

MRIdianLinac was developed by American company ViewRay. This equipment revolutionizes radiotherapy by using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to guide the rays, instead of CT.

"Specifically, thanks to the onboard MRI, the movements of the tumor and adjacent organs are followed with extreme precision, allowing a real-time dose calculation before each session, in order to d simultaneously elicit irradiations more targeted to tumors, and less invasive for surrounding healthy tissues " specifies the Center Georges-François Leclerc

The MRIdianLinac should be operational in the spring of 2019 in the center of Dijon. Its purchase was made possible thanks to the financial support of the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) and the Regional Council of Burgundy-Franche-Comté.
In France, only two other centers for the fight against cancer have already decided to equipped with this new technology, those of Marseille and Montpellier.
