Drownings rise this summer: 121 deaths in one month

"The number of drownings is up compared to the previous survey of 2015, over the same period, evaluated at 332, but there are fewer deaths in general," says Aymeric Ung, epidemiologist at Public Health France.

A finding that does not apply to children under 6 years. Sad news, 67 died this month against 50, in June, three years ago. "More than a dozen people died last weekend," says Aymeric Ung. A 24-year-old woman who succumbed at sea in Trouville-sur-Mer (Calvados), three siblings, 9, 10 and 13 years old, died in a lake in Chalon-sur-Saône (Saône-et-Loire ), last Sunday.

How to avoid these dramas?
