Kimi Räikkönen made a remarkable comeback at Sauber, 17 years after starting his F1 career with the Swiss team. He became familiar with the car, with the team and its procedures, and still managed to complete 102 laps of the Abu Dhabi circuit, more than 500 km.
The program was obviously focused on pneumatic tests, since Pirelli had brought prototypes of 2019. Sauber said "to have recovered many data and important references to prepare the next season".
A mechanical failure ended the Finnish day prematurely, but "the case has not been clarified yet without compromising the end of the program".
Räikkönen did not comment on the media his first day with Sauber. He will now leave the wheel to his future teammate, Antonio Giovinazzi, who will take over tomorrow for the final day of testing of the year.
