Firefox is deploying a security update following the discovery of a zero day critical vulnerability. This allows hackers to take control of devices after remote injection and malicious code execution.
Mozilla has released a security patch for its Firefox browser, victim of a zero day security vulnerability. If you use the software, it is advisable to download and install immediately its most recent versions (Firefox 67.0.3 and Firefox ESR 60.7.1) in order to protect you from this vulnerability, reports The Hacker News. As a reminder, Firefox 67 has been available for a month, an update that had brought substantial speed gains.
Firefox: a security update to address a critical vulnerability
The security hole, code-named CVE-2019-11707, was discovered by Samuel Groß, a computer security researcher at Google Project Zero. It can allow hackers to remotely execute arbitrary code on machines running vulnerable versions of Firefox, and take full control of the devices. For the moment, it is not known for sure whether hackers have had the opportunity to exploit this breach.

The vulnerability affects desktop versions of Firefox for Windows, macOS and Linux. On mobile (Android, iOS) and Amazon Fire TV, no fear to have about it a priori. In theory, Firefox automatically installs itself updates when they are available when the browser opens. As a precaution, make sure that you are running browser version 67.0.3 or higher (60.7.1 for Extended Support Release users).
